Many of the women in Gwen Stefani's family were seamstresses, and much of her clothing was made by her or her mother. As a child, Gwen Stefani's musical interests consisted of musicals such as The Sound of Music and Evita. After making a demo tape for her father, Gwen Stefani was encouraged to take music lessons to train her "loopy, unpredictable" voice. Gwen Stefani is a distant cousin of Madonna. Her great-aunt's mother-in-law shares the last name with Madonna.

Originally, Gisele Bundchen wanted to be a professional volleyball player and considered playing for the Brazilian team, Sogipa. While in school, Gisele Bundchen was so thin that her friends used to call her "OlĂvia Palito" (Portuguese for Olive Oyl, Popeye's skinny girlfriend) and "Saracura" (a type of Brazilian shorebird).
